The Algarve works well for a small leadership offsite or team retreat of 4 to 10 people: around 23°C afternoons in May and October, flights to Faro from 77 destinations in 2025, and private villas where a team can work in the morning and switch off by the pool in the afternoon. Aim for March to June or September to November, avoid the Formula 1 weekend in Portimão (18–20 June 2027) unless the race is part of the plan, and book four to six months ahead.
Portugal's economy is growing faster than expected. In its October 2026 World Economic Outlook, the IMF raised its 2026 growth forecast for Portugal to 2.1%, up from 1.7% in June, and its 2027 forecast to 1.9%, with unemployment around 5.9%. The government is slightly more optimistic, at 2.3% for 2026.
For a company choosing where to gather a team, that matters in practical ways: a country that is investing, services that keep improving, and a destination that is easy to sell internally.
Getting there is simple. Faro airport passed 10 million passengers for the first time in 2025, with 33 airlines flying to 77 destinations in 22 countries. The United Kingdom is its biggest market, followed by Germany, Ireland, France and the Netherlands. In summer 2026, United Airlines also flew Faro to Newark (New York) four times a week.
Spring and autumn are the sweet spot: warm enough to eat outside and swim in a heated pool, quiet enough to find restaurants, golf tee times and boats without queues. Average afternoon temperatures in Faro (IPMA, 1991–2020):
| Month | Average daily high |
|---|---|
| March | 18.9°C |
| April | 20.7°C |
| May | 23.5°C |
| June | 26.8°C |
| September | 26.4°C |
| October | 23.3°C |
| November | 19.6°C |
July and August are hotter (around 29°C) and busier, and that is family holiday season. One date to plan around: Formula 1 returns to the Algarve International Circuit in Portimão on 18–20 June 2027. It is a great reason to bring clients or a team, but accommodation books up early that week.
A hotel gives you a meeting room and a buffet. A private villa gives a small team something different: one house, one table, no other guests, and the freedom to set the rhythm.
A typical day for a leadership team of six to eight:
One honest limit: these are private holiday homes, not event venues. They suit working sessions and time together for a small group staying in the house, not conferences, outside guests or parties.
Two villas, about 45 minutes apart by car, each with four en-suite bedrooms. One villa suits a team of four or five in individual rooms, or a group of 8 to 10 sharing. Book both and a team of eight can each have their own room.
Is the Algarve a good place for a company offsite? Yes for small groups: it is easy to reach from most of Europe, mild outside summer, and offers outdoor activities within a short drive. For a large conference, a hotel or congress centre is the better fit.
What is the best month? May, June, September and October combine long, warm days with a quieter coast. March, April and November are cooler but still pleasant, with average highs of around 19–21°C.
Can we hold meetings in the villa? Yes, working sessions for the group staying in the villa are fine. There is no dedicated meeting room: teams work around the dining table, in the living room or on the terrace. Villa Luz Bliss also has a workspace overlooking the pool. Events, outside guests and parties are not possible.
How far are the villas from Faro airport? About one hour for Villa Luz Bliss in Praia da Luz, and about 47 minutes for Villa Medusa Paraiso in Carvoeiro.
Can we book both villas for one team? Yes. They are about 45 minutes apart by car, so a team can meet for shared dinners and activities while each villa keeps its own calm.
